Professional Background & Qualifications
I gained my first degree in Psychology from Cardiff University in 1993. I went onto qualify as a Clinical Psychologist from the Lancashire Clinical Psychology Doctorate Course in 1998.
Since qualifying I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS, initially with children and adolescents in two successive Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and for the last 16 years, with adults with moderate, and severe and enduring mental health problems (including trauma related problems, abuse, personality issues, chronic depression and mood problems, and eating disorders), working alongside colleagues in the Community Mental Health Team. For the past three years I have combined this work with my private practice offering psychological assessments and therapy to adults and adolescents with a range of mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
I have also completed additional training in EMDR (EMDR Works: completed in 2013), Systemic and Family Therapy (Institute of Systemic Therapy, London: completed in 2000), and Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (Marsha Lineham Institute: completed in 2014).
I am a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (Registration no: PYL02287). I am also a Chartered Psychologist and member of the Division of Clinical Psychology of the British Psychological Society (Chartered membership no: 418485). I am also an affiliate member of the EMDR UK Association. Both the HCPS and BPS require that members have and maintain high standards of practice in terms of their clinical/professional supervision, training and professional skills and conduct.
