Therapies
Therapies I offer
I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches and therapeutic models including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Eye Movement De-Sensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy
- Trauma focussed CBT
- Compassion based therapy
- Mindfulness-based CBT
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills
- Person-centred approaches
I draw on and integrate the above therapies in tailoring my approach to meet the needs of the individual I am working with. I aim to build a trusting, collaborative and empathic relationship with the individuals I work with. Whilst drawing on the available evidence base (e.g. NICE guidance), I aim to be guided by the individual’s understanding of their difficulties and what they think will be helpful, taking into account past help they may have received, and their own personal resources.
In line with the requirements of my professional body, clinical work offered is backed up by regular supervision to ensure those receive up-to-date therapy that best suits his or her needs.
Talking therapies vary and can be brief, structured and goal-orientated, or can be offered over a longer period (with regular reviews) allowing for more exploratory work. Length, frequency and type of therapy offered will depend on the individual’s needs, goals identified, as well as our shared understanding of what is likely to be most helpful.
I offer face to face sessions well as phone or secure video call sessions (using Skype, Zoom or Facetime).
